Cottage Pie or Shepherd's Pie?

Alloooo mate, 

Lately, iol macam malas nak masuk dapur masak. Sangat tak teruja nak memasak walaupun keinginan nak masak itu ini meluap-luap *bunyi nafsu serakah sangat khennn... iol guess it is because iol started to get busy with my actual job routine. Tuh yang kepenatan sangat bila fikir nak masak. But, iol cannot demotivate my lovely readers. The reason iol created this blog was to encourage people to cook in tender loving care for their love ones. So, kalau iol bermalas-malasan untuk ke dapur, nanti peminat-peminat fanatik blog nih *dah ramai sangat kerrr peminat???... kecam iol tak beri semangat untuk diorang.

Speaking about peminat, iol sungguh terharu *dah start keluarkan sapu tangan...ada seorang pembaca nih sesudah subuh kantoi dengan iol bukak blog iol. Dulu bila iol tanya dah baca ke blog iol, dijawabnya tak sempatlah, busy kerjalah segala *feeling2 Rosmah sangat busy ko kannn..tapi telah dilihat melangot depan blog iol di subuh hari. Baguslah, bukan iol nak kecam ke apa,itu tanda sokongan yang tak berbelah bagi *calon pilihanraya kahh???.. peminat iol terhadap blog masakan iol nih. Keep reading yehhh  :-)

Banyak sungguh permintaan yang nak resipi dalam blog nih..*mode veranganss ON kahh?? ..bukan berangan yaa tapi kisah benar macam kat TV3 tuhhh..iol gembira sebab it shows that people love what iol cook/bake. Bravo to uolsss!!! Itu belum soalan-soalan berkenaaan masakan dan makanan yang dihantar ke Iphone4 iolsss di pagi hari. Soalan-soalan tu pulak macam nak jawab paper final exam Diploma Hotel dan Katering UiTM... contohnya:

a) Apa beza chocolate moist cake dengan brownies? 
*soalan esei 4 markah sgtss
b) Macam mana nak tukar measurement cup ke gram? 
*wah, ko bercita2 nak jadi Chef ke?
c) Tepung gandum cap sauh best ke atau tepung Waitrose kat Cold Storage?
*Haruss Waitrose 
d) White chocolate tu apa? 
*erkkkk
e) Kat mana nak dapat maruku yang sedap? 
*ko hengat aku wakil rakyat kawasan Brickfields

Don't worry,  iol dengan besar hati sudi share recipes tersebut dengan uolss dan akan hantar secara personal kepada anda *nak hire budak delivery Dominos Pizza lahh...provided you leave me with your emails. Maaf, iol tak rasa sertakan resipi di blog nih akan membantu uolss di luar sana akan try nak masak. At least, bila uolss mintak, dah tunjuk effort akan masak khennn, Tapi bila dah buat, share laa uolss punyer pandangan and experience bila masak tuh..kalu jadi, baguslahh, kalu tak jadi, jangan malu mengaku and cuba lagik yek...*bukan macam ada sorang hamba Allah tuh, ditanya nyer pendapat iol pasal cake yang dimasak,bila iol jawab bantat, terus campak kek tu dalam tong sampah and emo dengan iol 2 hari!!! dah ko tanya pendapat aku khennn. oppsss sorry, it is not meant to gossip sesapa hihihihi

Ayooo panjangkan intro. OK, iol nak share satu masakan yang iol selalu makan semasa di negara Union Jack..dahh mulaa dah..dan tak penah pulak nak try buat sendiri. Bila dah balik sinih, terasa nak makan and bila nak carik yang sedap, tak jumpa. yang tak sedap, berlambak jual kat KL nih esp yang jual  from the biggest franchise cafe in Malaysia!

So, one fine evening, iol di jemput ke party pot luck di rumah atas kayangan. iol pun buat la one of my favorite pie...*sumer laa kan favorite katernyerr..SHEPHERD's PIE. This classic British meat pie dulu2 dikenali sebagai COTTAGE PIE dan menjadi hidangan utama golongan marhaen sebab potato murah. Now, this pie has become one of the popular dish in many restaurants in the UK. Adapun, samada cottage or shepherd's pie, term nyer digunakan bergantung kepada meat apa yg uols guna. Kalau beef, people call it Cottage Pie tapi kalau mutton atau lamb, term Sherphed's Pie digunakan sebab word "shepherd" tu ada dekat2 dengan "sheep"...mmbekkkkk?

keturunan mek tetap jadi hidangan perot uolsss."
*pasrahhh...

For this recipe, iol used mince beef so technically it will be called Cottage Pie....sesuai sangat dengan Mulberry Cottage :))


Mulberry's Cottage Pie
La Ingredients

Step 1
 Heat the oil in a saucepan. Then, soften the onion and garlic for a few minutes.


Step 2
 Tip in the mushroom and celery and cook until brown. 


Step 3
 Then, soften the carrots.


Step 4
 When soft, turn up the heat, crumble in the mince beef. Cook until brown.


Step 5
Add chopped tomatoes and tomato puree. Then fry for a few minutes.  


Step 6
Pour over the beef stock and a few bay leaves, bring to simmer, then cover and cook until the sauce is thick.


Step 7
 Meanwhile, boil the potatoes and carrots in salted water for 15-20 mins until tender.


Step 8
Drain the potatoes and carrots, then use the ricer to mash and add butter and milk


Step 9
Filled half of the ramekins with the mince to serve individually. You can use an ovenproof dish too.


Step 10
Top with the mash, ruffle with a fork. Bake for 20-25 mins in pre-heated oven to 180C/gas 4.



Here is the final product. Boleh laa dihias dengan bunga-bunga segar. *jangan ko ratah lak bunga tuh macam salad!

    I remembered eating this pie some time ago. It was certainly delish!! And ive tried doing it some months back. Thanks for sharing it with us..
    Somehow i still love ur seafood pie better :-))
