Burberry Classic British Flapjack

Yuhuuuuuuu....jangan nak pitam denagn tajuk entry comeback nih. 

Assalamualaikum, Salam Sejahtera dan Salam 1Malaysia (bunyi MC majlis-majlis gomen sangat!)

Ya ampun, lamanya tak bersiaran. Last entry masa 11 May 2011. 2 tahun tak update blog nih. ramai yang asyik bertanya bila nak update, bila nak letak resepi baru, bila itu bila ini sampaikan ada pembaca tegar blog nih hentak-hentak kepala kat dinding nak baca entry baru dari sinih (biar betul???). Ada tu jugak nak Pop Kuiz blog nihh diadakan balik (mana aku nak carik sponsor untuk aku bagi hadiah???Datuk Farid Redzuan pun dah tak keje kat TV3, cemana?)

Adapun, iol ini tersangatlah busy memanjang sampai tak ada masa nak update blog nih. Dengan kerjaya baru, anak-anak (mesti terkezut. yerrr iol dah ada anak dan cucu, tak yah lah ko nak iol kompang kat sinih), so rasa penat dan malas sangat nak menulis kat sinih. Padahal masak je memanjang and ambil gambar segala tapi tak share kat blog. Marahlah peminat2 iol kat luar sana. Apa pun, iol tetap bersyukur yang diri ini maseh dihargai. Terima kasih pada anda semua yang tak putus2 mendoakan kesejahteraan blog nih.

Dahhhh..daahhh...jangan nak merapek. Baik iol teruskan mengshare resepi British yang enak ini (matilaaarrrr). Untuk entry comeback nih, iol nak tunjukkan satu snack iol paling suker masa kat negara Union Jack dulu (tetapkannn trademark nih). iol punyelah mengidam suatu hari tuh nak makan benda nih. Benda nya adalah FLAPJACK!. Masa di sana dulu, hampir tiap-tiap hari makan flapjack with a cup of tea sambil merenung di tingkap tengok abang2 British buat construction...( nah kau, tak sesuai sgts dengan konsep blog nih)

Gilerr, ko hengat kerja aku melangut menunggu ko?

So, masa mengidam mengandungkan anak ke 150 juta kali (eh, macam lagu budak Youtube tuh kan, apa ah nama dia), iol gi la carik sekitar bandaraya Kuala Lumpur yang indah permai tapi nan hadoooo jumpanya. Dari Kedai Runcit 1Malaysia (bunyi sokong BN sangat kannn) hinggalah ke grocery store berprestij macam BIGS di Publika... (bukan BIG yang Jusco punyer tu yer. Dulunya Carrefour tapi dah tukar. Tetap kelasss konsep grocery store dia uols) So, kebetulan kawan iol balik KL dari Londan, iol pun memesanla pada dia untuk bawa balik demi anak dalam kandungan nih. Bila dah dapat, girangnya iol tak terkira macam dapat keputusan SPM 24A (eh ada lagi ke budak2 skrg amik paper SPM macam nak apply buat double degree di Oxford dan Cambridge University sekaligus???). So, bila stok dah habis, walaupun dapat dua peket 6 ketul, iol pun mencari resepi and nak cuba buat sendiri. Mak aiii, rupanya senang aja nak buatnya. So tengok macam mana nak buat Flapjack nih.

BURBERRY CLASSIC BRITISH FLAPJACK

Le Ingredients
Firstly, preheat the oven to 190C/gas 5 . tapi kalau uols prefer the flapjack chewy than crispy, cukup panaskan oven 150C/gas 2. Tapi iol letak 170C untuk dapat both texture.
Then, line a 20x20cm baking tin with greaseproof paper. Jangan lak guna kertas suratkhabar. 


 Timbang all the dry ingredients and put the oats in the bowl.


Melt the butter in a small pan with the sugar, syrup and a pinch of salt. Kalau uols guna salted butter, tak yah la letak garam lagi. nak dapat darah tinggi ke? For this recipe, iol guna muscovado sugar sebab it will give nice color to it.


Pour in and stir well the melted ingredients in the oats. 

Macam ni la rupanya bila dah kacau hingga sebati


Press evenly onto the tin. Make sure uols tekan padat-padat takut nanti dia tak mampat dan berderai bila potong. Bake for 25 minutes kalau nak chewy and 30 minutes kalau nak crunchy-crunchy gituh. iol bake sampai 27 minutes, voleyyy? tetap nak yang tengah-tengah.

Bila dah masak, keluarkan. Tadaaaaaaa.


Bila dah kuarkan dari oven, lepas beberapa minit potong siap-siap sebab bila dia sejuk dia keras and susah nak potong plus supaya senang nak diasingkan. pastikan uols biar flapjack nih sejuk betul-betul baru keluarkkan dari dalam baking tin. kalau tak nanti habislah hancur sebab masa panas, dia masih lembik.


Cantek apabila disusun hias di atas pinggan berbunga classic...

Personally, walaupun baru first time buat, iol memang suka sangat hasilnya. Flapjack ni crunchy diluar tapi lembut and chewy di dalam, just what I expected. Another great British food. Smashing!!!

Mulberry Style Hummingbird Cake


*larikkkkkkkkkkkk, psycho in the house!!!!

Pasrah...adakah itu perkataan yang sesuai??? atau Psycho or Stress??? ..*matilah post kali nih bunyi meroyansss..tidak ye uolsss..baca sampaii habis then baru uollss judge sendiri pos nih bunyi meroyan ke tak :)
Selalunya, when iol stress di tahap langit Ervlon *mesti uols blank tak tahukan, baca Kitab Nabi nak tahu, jangan baca novel Lord of The Rings pulak nak carik jawapan!  iol akan masuk ke dapur iol yang comel tuh and start baking. For some people, when they stress or depress diorang akan binge-binge apa sahaja asalkan dapat lupakan masalah..well iol pun suker gak binge2 bila tension, nak-nak bila dapat teman binge yang akan sentiasa di sisi apabila di ajak. Sampai ada seorang kawan iol boleh cancel gi gym sebab makan itu lebih mencapai kepuasan dari pergi excersize kat gym *matilaaa gym bunny tak setuju and kutuk blog iol hihihihi.
Well apa yang iol merapek kali nih? iol nak citer how iol handle stress and tension supaya tidak mencapai tahap meroyan ketika itu, iaitu dengan cara cooking or most of the time, BAKING. iol ingat semasa di negara Union Jack *tetap khennnn... bila stress jer akan ke dapur baking especially waktu tengah malam. Adakala pukul 2 pagi gigih buat kek! Sampailaa balik sinih tak kira tengah malam dan hampir subuh boleh ke dapur buat scones, cakes and muffins. Pas tuh bawak gi ex-opis...kenyang orang-orang kat ex-opis makan tapi org2 tuh jugak (some) yang buat lahanat kat iols..oppssss. Halalkan je lah jah.
Well, here is another tension moment..ehhh???...semalam iol teringin sangat nak makan Hummingbird Cake yang sedap tuh macam dekat Cafe Whisk *cafe English style katernyer, mek sukerrr  di Empire Gallery Subang. Tapi nak ke sana nan hadoo laa masanya plus dengan masa, tol, minyak, parking rate segala untuk sepotong sebulat kek..*macam kawan  iol  yang meletop sorang tuh, lunch sepotong sekeping roti, gilerr apa hihihihi...So iol decided to bake myself the cake...lagi puas hati! dapat sebijik kek dan boleh jamu kengkawan terchenta...
iol start korek resepi kek nih and terjumpa. nampak mudah dan iol pun siaplaa dengan barang-barangnyer. Let's see how to bake this cake yahhh.

Le Ingredients



Step 1
Put all dry ingredients; all purpose flour, castor sugar, baking soda, ground cinnamon and salt into a mixing bowl. Bowl nih iol beli kat negara Union Jack jugekkk...*larikkkkkkkkkkk. Combine well the ingredients with a whisk.

Step 2
 Add eggs and vegetable oil, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened. Kacau perlahan-lahan uolsss. Jangan laa kacau macam nak buat kuih bahulu.

Step 3
Stir in pineapple, bananas and pecans and mixed them well. Nak bubuh vanilla pun ok tapi iol dah kehabisan vanilla extract.


Step 4
Pour batter into 2 greased 9-inch round cake pans. Then, bake at 180 Celsius or 350F for 25-30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Janganlah pulak ko cucuk dengan batang penyapu!

Step 5
Cool in pans on wire rack for 10 minutes; remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks before uolss put cream cheese frosting.

Step 6
 Beat cream cheese and soften butter until smooth. Guna mixer lagi senang. Mixer iol mestilah Kitchen Aid. *matilaaarrr menunjuk-nunjuk.

Step 7
Then, uolsss pour in vanilla extract or in iol case, iol pakai vanilla pod. nanti kat cream tuh leh nampak bintik-bintik hitam halusss. Cantek uolsss.

Step 8
Then, pour in icing sugar. Depend nak manis cemana yang uolss nak tapi jangan laa banyak sangat sampai jadik macam dough karipap.

Step 9
Then, boleh laa disapu dengan frosting. First, uolss spread cream cheese frosting between two layers. Lepas tuh, spread on top and sides of the cake mengikut kesukaan dekorasi uolss. iol hias biasa-biasa jer. Finally, sprinkle chopped pecans on top of the cake. Store in refrigerator before serving. Tahu aje laa kan cuaca Malaysia, panass. Kang cair cream cheese frosting tuh.




Inilah hasilnya uolsss. Sama tak dengan origial picture above? Boleh laa kan. First time baking cake nih kira iolss puas jugekk laa dengan rasa dan hasilnya.

Berikut adalah komen-komen tetamu yang sempat hadir semalam. iol dah post kat mukabuka sapa nak datang rasa, jemput lah ke cottage iols, tapi ni ajelah yang datang. Pas nih jangan laa kater tak hajak segalaaa khennnn.

2. "Sedaplaa tapi tak sama dengan Cafe Whisk punyerrr. Macam keras sikit" - Kaki larikss tegar *Eh ehhhhh!

3. "Nok, best laa cake ko nih. Mak suker." - Rawang Next Top Model *ermm leh caya ker komen dia??

4. "Nice mama cake nih." - Menantu tiri. *nak hamik hati laa tuhh


5. (Masuk rumah terus potong kek and masuk ke dalam mulot dengan rakusnyer) - Sapa nih???

Chicken Biryani UK Style

Berani mati tak post kali ni? samada you like it or you hate it..so kalau suka teruskan bacaan uolss, kalu tak suka, sila meroyan di tempat lain hihihihhihi...

Apa khabar uolsss semua? Missing me much? *dah mula dahhhh..it is not about the post title, is about sharing with uolss the cooking I have done recently. Sorrylaa uolss, lama tak hupdate blog, busy tahap melampau! *alasan sangat khennn...tapi demi peminat yang tak putus-putus tanya khabar di mukabuka *bukan Cinta Mukabuka penyanyi yg sorang tuh yerk..talipon, hantar whatsapps, sms, ketuk pintu cottage iol pukul 2am..*merasalah perasan yang teramat... semuanya bertanya bilakah nak update blog nih. Jangan risau, materials tuh banyak sangats nak dibubuh tapi tak berkesempatan nak menaip dengan jari-jemari mungil iols nih. *matilah tak leh jadik wartawan sebab mesti kene maki dengan editor hantar story lambat.

So, last week, my Yorkshire friend (sorang lagi kawan yang verangan Brits tak hengat tapi iol sukerrr hahaha) called me and asked me to cook something for majlis yasin dan tahlil dekat opis dia. Bila tanya, majlis tahlil nyer bila. Dijawabnya pagi pukul 9am! Motiff ko baca yasin dan tahlil pagi2 kat opis? dah tak der keje kah? Gomen sangatsss...*memang keje gomen pun...tak pe lah, benda baik, , bukan suruh masak and nak jamu customer lepas cik cur..opppssss...yang terkejutnya, esok pagi nak bawak gi opis, kol 7pm baru nak bagitau...dah laa iol tercungap2 nak pikir beli barang and nak pikir masak apa. Yang bestnyer, volehh dia request masak yang sedap2 and lain dari yang lain supaya nampak vogue dan nampak makanan UK...katernyerr, uolss pitam takkk dengar statement dia nih. Oklah iol pun memecah otak dan buah dada memikirkan apa yang nak dibeli dalam masa 1/2 jam!!! dah lah janji dengan Duchess of Ipoh dan kengkawan yang lain nak gi makan Roti John yang paling best in town (katernyeelahh) pukul 8.30pm. Dengan tanpa berlengah masa, iol pun dapat idea (setelah meneliti bahan2 yang ada kat dapur and something I could get easily kat Jusco dalam masa 1/2jam) dan inilah yang dimasak iol utk majlis tersebut..tak tahulaa vogue ke tak dipandangan mata uolss tapi, ada aku kesah? yg penting masak dengan penoh ikhlas dan kasih sayang demi memenuhi permintaan kawan terchenta..chewahhhh.

So ada 2 resepi that I could think of and masak pada pukul 4am! yelahhh dia nak kuar gi opis kol 6.30 pagi. Tak ke haru biru dibuatnyer.

Chicken Biryani UK Style

Le Ingredients


Before uolss start the cooking, soak the rice in warm water first, then wash in cold until the water runs clear. Then, heat butter and oil (iol guna olive oil supaya butter tuh tak hangus, kalu nak guna minyak masak Seri Murni pun ok, tp tak yah laa bubuh butter) in a saucepan...kalu nak jamu 4 orang boleh lah. Sebab nak jamu 20 orang, iol guna big non stick Anolon pot..kalu cap crocodile takot melekat..*larikkkk. Pour in the spices; cinnamon sticks, star anise, cloves and cardamon pods and cook until  the aroma comes up (tak lama, 30 saat jer, kang hangus lak)


Then, cook the onions for 10 minutes or until it is soften. Masa nih, satu rumah dah bau and boleh jadik kelaparan yang melampau sangatsss :-)


Add in the chicken. iol used chicken breast sebab senang nak makan. Kalu bertulang-tulang sangat seksa nak gaul nanti and takot ayam tuh tak masak.Sanggup ke uol tercekik tulang ayam???


Then, sprinkle in the turmeric powder and curry paste. Mix well and simmer for 10 minutes. I used Patak's Curry Paste (in this recipe is Madras). You can use Balti, Jalfrezi, and Vindoloo curry paste from this brand but check warning on the jar for spiciness so uols can prepare for mild or very hot meal. iol remember during my stay at negara Union Jack..*matilaaarrrr... when iol lazy, iol liked to throw in curry paste on leftover rice and then put in the microwave rather then cooking it properly..gila takk?? Pemalas tahap beruang kutub masa tuh..ye laahhh winter time :)


Stir the rice into the pot with the raisins. Mix them well. iol used sultana brand Silver Bird jerr *iklan dah ni..ada royalti tak???


Then, pour over chicken stock. Place a tight-fitting lid on the pot and bring to a hard-boil, then lower the heat to the minimum, and cook the rice for another 10-15 minutes. (masa nih boleh laa kilat kuku jari kalau mau ..ehhh??). Turn off the heat and leave for 10-15minutes. 


Stir well with a fork. Sebabnyer, kalau guna senduk, hancurlaa nasi tuh and tak cantek. Kalau dah hancur baik buat nasi kepal oppps. Mixing through with fresh coriander.


Tomato, Carrot and Cucumber Salad

Le Ingredients
Nasi nih sangat sesuai dihidangkan dengan salad di atas. Tak perlu laa nak buat kari dalca segala. Caranya sangat mudah. 1st, dissolve sugar with malt vinegar. Cut tomatoes, cucumbers (iol guna Japanese Yuri, kalu tak der guna aje lah timun pasar borong Selayang pun ok), carrots, white onions and red chilies into bite-sized. Then, pour in all vegetable ingredients into a bowl. Then, mix well with malt vinegar dressing. Senangkan.



Ini lah hidangan yang telah siap di masak... nak UK style sangats, iol serve dengan a teaspoon of Mango Chutney. Nak meletop lagi kalu ada poppodam dan chili salsa macam makan dengan nasi Usama opppsss...nasi Arab.

Happy Belated Birthday!!!



Kembali bersiaran....

Hari ni genaplah 47 hari *ko baru lepas pantang bersalin kah??  iol tak menulis apa2 kat blog nih. Jangan ditanya kenapa and oven pun tak ber ON...iol banyak makan hati ehhh...makan luar sajork :-)

Tapi rasanya belum terlewat untuk iol berkongsi dengan peminat-peminat di luar sana *matilaarrr dah mulaaa...tentang birthday celebration yang baru sahaja berlalu walaupun ceritanya mungkin pada sesetengah orang dah tahu...tapi peminat dari benua Eropah, Amerika Utara, Amerika Selatan, Papua New Guinea dan Planet Uranus mesti nak tahu jugak apa yang iol santap atau masak during my birthday celebration. I must say  this year birthday was one of the best I' ve ever had and perhaps the BEST sebab iol dikelilingi mereka yang masih lagi menyayangi diri ini yang tak seberapa *bergenang air mata..ayoohhh drama sgtkan ko!! Many thanks for your kindness, generosity and thought and also for making my birthday this year so emotional. You know who you are!

Wow!..the pictures above were the cakes I had eaten during my celebrations. Now you know why iol punyer body sama dah dengan my Kitchen Goddess, Nigella Lawson!. The first one with the candles is Durian Cake. Inspired by Classic Victoria Sponge Cake *tetapkannn, my dear friend, Duchess of Ipoh baked this cake not just for me, but also for 3 other friends who celebrated their birthday in the same month. The cake were sandwich with fresh durian frosting which I thought was a brilliant idea to substitute butter cream frosting. iol actually not very fond of durian but after iol tasted this cake, I gave an exceptional to this one. Thank you, love!
The second cake was bought from the very famous chain cake stores in Malaysia. It is called Chocolate and Walnut Cake. The cake packed with layers of chocolate sponge and chocolate cream with generous amount of chopped walnut scattered around the layers..yum yum yum. I celebrated with another adek-beradek and almost every adek-beradek was there, having exquisite middle eastern food together, recently. Yallaa yallaa.
The third cake was also bought from the same store but of course from different branch laa *kesian branch lain pun nak carik makan jugekkk....two piece of cakes. One is Chocolate and Walnut Cake and the other one is Pecan Butterscotch Cake...complete with a cup of Earl Grey tea..very nice!!!
And the last one...tak yah laa iol kenal kan. (riak nih hehehe)..kalu anda peminat setia blog harus tahu kann *nah kau soalan quiz! ...I baked for myself but ended up giving to my family. They loved it!!!


I also went out for meals with some of the great friends. The top picture is Friday's Sundae from TGI Jumaat. This dessert served in a tall glass with vanilla ice cream topped with hot fudge, caramel sauce, nuts and whipped cream. Even 4 orang makan pun tak habis *well 2 orang tuh jaga badan. Takott lemak katernyerr hihihi..
Next is high tea at one of the cosy cafe in Bangsar with soulmate and Duchess of Ipoh. We had variety of snacks to binge with a pot of tea and coffees. This place is not only has gorgeous food but also a nice place to have small gathering with the love ones.
The third picture is Japanese BBQ buffet style with sebahagian adek-beradek. Boleh order ala carte kalau uols bukan jenis melantak tak hengat! This restaurant is voted as the best YAKINIKU in town! katernyelahhh.
Last one is Yee Sang at Quality Hotel with fantastic friends while having dim sum sampai perot pecah hehehehe. It was a great experience because that was the first time I had Yee Sang and mixed the ingredients using chopsticks!


Oh gosh..the eating continues....iol melonjak kegirangan apabila masa kat satu restaurant nih iol nampak they serve my favorite spanish food, Paella de Marisco aka Seafood Paella! Chef yang sediakan tuh sangatlaa generous sebab dia bagi banyak sangat sampai penoh pinggan! Taste kat iol kottt *perasannn!!
Next, iol pergi sendirian ke satu English cafe style di Subang bagi merasakan suasana meraikan birthday di negara Union Jack *matilaarrr kene kecam... kali ni iol pegi sendirian sebab bagi mengimbas memori indah yang penoh luka di sana...opssss no meroy story please!..sorry peeps :) Dapat makan Hummingbird Cake...awesome!!!
And the celebration completed with the show at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas on the night of my birthday dengan alunan romantik music scores dari filem-filem Hollywood. After the show, I had Churros...bukan cik cur yaaa.. a spanish doughnut or gypsy waffles, a fried-dough pastry dip into hot chocolate sauce ..OMG, heaven!!!

iol jugak dapat birthday presents! To me, all the presents I got are my precious possessions and ironically, semua hadiah tuh adalah related to cooking...thanks kerana memahami isi hati ini :))). By the way, all these prezzies photos were snapped by Ajay Lee Frangoulis Khan, Nigel Barker in the making :p..the background very the English cottage :)

heyyy that kitchen scale is Typhoon okay! But I love it..very practical!
